Answer:
Tying hair invalidates wudu
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
To the best of our knowledge, we have not come across any text in either the Glorious Quran or the authentic and established Sunnah of the Prophet (saws) which declares that the tying of one’s hair invalidates one’s state of wudu or one’s prayer.
The person who declared to you that the tying of one’s hair invalidates the wudu or the prayer should be asked to provide their evidence for their prohibition from either the Quran and/or the Sunnah! If the person is unable to provide the evidence then know with conviction that the prohibition is from them and not from Allah and His Messenger (saws)!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
