As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
As Salam o Aleikum My question is , can women cut their nails and cut or remove their hair from any part of body in a house where men do qurbani ? Will it be sin if women cut their hair and nails?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
Can women cut their nails if men in house are doing qurbani
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sahih Muslim Hadith 4869 Narrated by Umm Salamah
Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘When any one of you intending to sacrifice the animal enters in the month (of Dhul-Hijjah) he should not get his hair or nails touched (cut).
If the men of the house intend to offer the voluntary sacrifice on the Eid of Adha on their own behalf, there is absolutely no harm if the woman wishes to clip her nails or cut her hair. But if the men of the house intend to offer the sacrifice on the day of the Eid of Adha on behalf of the full family, it would be better and safer for the women of the house to err on the side of caution, and either clip their nails and cut their hair before the advent of the month of Dhul-Hijjah or until after the sacrifice is offerred on the Day of Eid.
