As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
As Salam Aleykum May ALLAH ALMIGHTY REWARD you for teaching Islam in so effective way . I pray that ALLAH BLESS you My quesyion is about the concept of dam water, reciting wazeefa and dam water. I once asked you a question about concept of evil eye, i'm very satisfied with your reply thank you for it , i read one Hadith in your reply Narrated Ruwayfi ibn Thabit From Sunan Abu Dawood Found in: Purification (Kitab Al-Taharah) Hadith no: 36 Actually brother has evil eye , and my father went to a baba sits in one mosque , he gave my father a paper written with : go away o satan etc , he asked father to burn this page everyday , also he gave a paper that he asked to put in water and ordered to drink that dam water everyday by all family members. He also gave some Verses to recite , one Verse 40,000 times , other is 70,000 times. He also beat my father and brother with a stick lightly , i told my father about Hadith but ne rebuked me saying , it is ALLAH's Quran , what is wrong if one recites HIS KALAM to ward off the evil eye I'll be grateful to you if you please guide us , should we not do what he said , will all wazeefa process turn and cause harm to us ? If my father rebuke me if i tell him about Hadith again , will it be disonedience ? I always read your site and i'm regular visitor , i always use your site flr dawah , MAY ALLAH REWARD you.

Answer:
Dam water
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Beloved Sister in Islam,You are right in your awareness that all supplications must be made directly to Allah swt for help and assistance. Anyone who believes that the mere recitation of Quranic verses and blowing it on water, or burning pieces of paper with some instructions, or reciting some words a number of times, or getting beaten by sticks etc., will be involved in bidda and shirk.
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3696 Narrated by An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "A creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the Creator."
If you disobey your father against a direct command of Allah swt there would be no sin upon you. These wajeefas and taweej rituals are nothing but mere superstitions performed by ignorant people.
